Appreciating Our Coaches on International Coaching Week

By Bev Weise, Executive Director

Hello,

My name is Bev Weise and I am the Co-founder and Executive Director of Refugee JumpStart Coaching (RJS)

This week is International Coaching Week so I thought it only appropriate to send this “love letter” to our coaches, who contribute their time and expertise to help empower refugees rebuild their lives in their new countries of resettlement.

Our more than 60 leadership, career, life, and wellness coaches come from every region of the world, to support refugees who originally came from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine, the Congo, Camaroon and so many more countries.

What drives these amazing coaches to volunteer their time and expertise with Refugee JumpStart Coaching?

  • Some are former immigrants themselves who understand the challenges of resettling in a new country with a new language and a different culture;

  • Some have worked with immigrant and refugee populations before and see their resilience, determination and motivation—and are inspired by them.

  • Others are disheartened by the changing political tide of how refugees are welcomed into many countries, and they are seeking ways want to express their humanity by empowering individual refugees – one at a time—to rebuild their lives and succeed.

  • AND ALL our coaches are driven by their values—a belief that every person has worth, with potential for achieving more, being more, and contributing more to the societies in which they live. People with those values are drawn to coaching as a profession—and we at Refugee JumpStart Coaching, are the fortunate recipient of their commitment and passion to make this world a better place for all of us.

So THANK YOU, RJS coaches! You’re absolutely the best!
